Canterbury and Brighton

So update time, I’ve left London and run off down to thesouth of England, My first stop was in Canterbury ( I am currently on the train to Brighton) Anyway, Canterbury, absolutely stunning, possibly that had a lot to do with the glorious sunshine, but I think the gorgeous Tudor buildings, stone churches, medieval city walls, cobbled streets, ambling lanes and imposing and spectacular cathedral , definitely gave the city a great deal of extra charm. Stayed at a great hostel, really homely and comfy…. Last night we were all out in the garden, people drinking beer,
singing and strumming guitars….. really relaxed place…. As I mentioned before, I’m now heading to Brighton, which is as far as I have planned so far, seriously the transport system down here is bizarre, it has the most gorgeous coast, but heaps of it is pretty much inaccessible unless you have a car….. or you have to take really bizarre routes to get places, like all the way back to London and then onto your destination…..

So Brighton, really beautiful, old world charm and decaying icons of wealth and status... interesting pier/fairground, kind of scary to suddenly realise that the rollercoaster in over the water, on a pier that was built in the late 1800's! But the jewel of Brighton for me is the amazing Royal Pavillion, it is stunning, the place is extraordinary, and truly awe-inspiring, I walked around it mouth gaping ..... stunning, opulent and decadent....... dragons and serpents are everywhere, in the wall paper, in the enormous chandeliers, coiled around drapes and on the carpets..... beautiful, beautiful place........

4 days in London

So, what can I say, I've been in London a fair few days now, 4 - I think and have seen a whole lot of the city ....... on foot, my feet are burning up as I write.... Went to the tower of London yesterday and heard about the executions and other "fun" stuff that has gone on in the tower over the years from a Yeoman..... But really, I am not so much going to "sights", just more wandering and wondering about the place...... Along the Thames, through gardens, past tudor and neo-gothic buildings...... just taking it all in, and the sunshine.... and thinking about possibilities, really its scary and liberating to think about, I could do anything here......... There are endless possibilities.... Think I am going to head off down to Canterbury and along the coast to Cornwall after my time in London is up on Sunday...... we'll see where I am lead, cause I am slowly learning to take different paths.........

LONDON CALLING…. Just for Teish and Beeb…..

Well, well, what can I say, I’m off…. I’m actually writing this on a word doc (I’ll upload later) as we are about an hour out from arriving at Heathrow and we are currently flying over Germany………… It never quite sinks into my mind exactly where I am, hurtling through the air 11576m off the ground at 835km per hour in a tin can….. okay so sightly more robust than a tin can, but you get my drift…..

Leaving was kind of surreal, didn’t at all seem like I was leaving for anything more that a moment, as if, instead of Simon picking me up for the airport, we were just going out for lunch or something….. but clearly not , because it’s now heading into the 23rd hour of travelling and have travelled, well on this 2nd leg of the journey, 10,103km with 694km to go………… that’s a mind boggling concept….

So the first steps into the unknown are coming up fast… Really have to figure out what I am going to do with myself before I get up to Edinburgh,…. Get to the hostel and then go buy myself a towel and have a shower!!!! Sounds like a good first step I think.

Cupcake for the RSPCA Day

Tomorrow is Cupcake for the RSPCA Day so we (Teish, Beeb and I) were in the bakery all this afternoon cupcaking up a storm..... I love the ovens at work, so much quicker and more even baking than mine at home, must get myself an industrial oven one day,..... managed to pretty up the ovens and ourselves a fair bit with some edible glitter.... Hopefully people will get into the spirit, and the nom-iness and buy one..... all the money does go to the RSPCA you know :)
